It was great to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday. Here is a selection of our staff (Year 4 were celebrating on Friday instead).

Year 6 were writing poems about stereotyping, having used the Windrush and Shine books as their inspiration.

Year 5 did a book scavenger hunt, book jigsaws (exploring new titles), started reading Boy in the Tower and did a books & biscuits activity (which sounds brilliant!).

In year 3, they looked at the story ‘My Shadow is Purple’ by Scott Stuart. The story is all about breaking gender stereotypes and realising that you do not have to have a ‘blue’ shadow or ‘pink’ shadow but any colour shadow you wish! The children thought about what makes them unique and different to other children and then created a short poem about their shadow. It was so wonderful to see the children owning their uniqueness!

As always – a great atmosphere in school. Thank you to everyone who dressed up as their favourite book character.
