Purbrook Junior School

Cross Country

Cross Country is very popular sport at Purbrook Junior with over 60 children participating! The Cross Country season starts in September and finishes in the spring term. Children that attend the club will run in the league on Portsdown Hill. It is a very gruelling league! The season ends with a Championship race held at Crookhorn School – the ten top boys and girls (selected from their positions in the league races) from each school attend to run the final race and find out their school’s finishing position in the league. Some children also get the chance to be selected for an area team. Last year we won not only the boys and girls local leagues but our girls (for the first time in the history of the event) won the SE Hants league!

Cross Country is coached by Mr Baines (Sports4Primary). Please contact Mrs Kennett at the school office if your child is interested in taking part.

THE DALE CUP

Every year, the Yr 6 children take part in the Dale Cup race. Children that have trained at Cross Country Club also get the chance to take part. The Dale Cup usually takes place in the Spring Term. This is an inter-house competition that is a tradition here at Purbrook Junior.
