Purbrook Junior School


During the spring and summer months, Cross Country changes to Athletics. The emphasis is on short and middle distance running, jumping and throwing. Children are selected from the After School Club to represent the school. We attend the South East Hampshire Athletics meeting at the Mountbatten Centre. Mr Baines currently coaches the club on a Friday.

South East Hants Schools Athletics Championship

On Friday 7th July 2017, a team from Purbrook took part in an Athletics Championship at The Mountbatten Centre. It was a very hot afternoon which made competing particularly difficult but we were very proud of their performances. Here are some of our results:

Ella H – Winner of the Yr 3/4 girls 150m final in 22.09 secs – An outstanding performance

Megan S – 2nd in the Yr 5/6 girls 150m final also in 22.09 secs.

Armani S – 2nd in the Yr 3/4 girls 60m final in 9.57 secs.

Chloe R – Winner of the Yr 5/6 girls 80m final in 11.06 secs.

Sadie I & Chloe R – Joint winners of the girls High Jump with a fantastic clearance of 1.25m

Charlie A – 2nd place in the boys High Jump with a brilliant height of 1.25m

Mason B – 2nd in theYr 5/6 boys ball throw with a distance of 40.40m

Ella H – Winner of the Yr 3/4 girls Long Jump with a distance of 3.52m

Megan H – 3rd in the Yr 3/4 girls Long Jump with a distance of 2.93m

Tyler B – 2nd in the Yr 3/4 boys Triple Jump with a distance of 5.54m & Yr 3/4 boys Long Jump 3.75m

Yr 3/4 boys relay team – Frankie F, Callum C, Tyler B and Jacob B – 2nd

Yr 3/4 girls relay team – Ella H, Armani S, Sienna H and Jasmine C – Winners

Yr 5/6 girls relay team – Chloe R, Megan S, Megan H and Erin L – 2nd

Overall we finished in 2nd place which is a fantastic achievement – Well Done Purbrook!
