On our return to school after Lockdown 3, we undertook a whole school project. It was a cross-curricular art topic with the driving thread being ‘What climate change means to us.’ With this in mind, we asked the children about what they already knew about climate change and from there decided we could link the learning to English, History, Science, Geography, RE (Philosophy), PSHE and of course, Art. We completed lots of research and linked the learning to picture and story books too. Each year group focused on areas that the children wanted to focus on (following the questionnaires sent out).
  • Year 3 – Antarctica
  • Year 4 – Plastic Pollution
  • Year 5 – Deforestation
  • Year 6 – Light Bulb moments
Our outcome was an art installation – due to be displayed at Winchester Cathedral during the week of 14th June 2021. The whole school gained so much more! This week-long project gave so many learning opportunities across the curriculum as well as helping the children settle back into the school routine again.
